Iran and the Fairy Tale Atomic Bomb

undefined

Is it possible Senator Tom Cotton ghostwrites fairy tales on his days off from Congress? Cotton and his neocon buddies are pretty good at making things up.

For instance:
But you really don’t get the full impact unless you read the unabridged statement posted May 8 on his Senate webpage.
Europe must not give in to Tehran’s nuclear blackmail as the ayatollahs threaten to renew their rush toward the bomb. The United Kingdom, Germany, and France ought to walk away from their financial backchannels with Iran and join the United States in imposing maximum pressure on the regime. The United States will remain steadfast in its approach until Iran abandons its nuclear and missile programs and support for terrorism.
Nuclear blackmail.

This is the central theme of the fairy tale. Iran is making progress on a nuclear weapon. But like a lot of things the neocons claim, there isn’t a whole lot of evidence Iran is anywhere near developing a nuclear bomb, or even that it wants one.

The JCPOA is an agreement in part allowing the International Atomic Energy Agency to verify Iran’s compliance. It also allowed the IAEA“wider access to, and information on, Iran’s nuclear program and implements a more robust verification system.”

But, of course, we can’t have that.

The idea Iran is ruled by irrational religious fanatics determined to attack the Great Satan America and especially the Zionist state of Israel. It’s taken as uncontested fact these wild-eyed mullahs will nuke both if they can successfully cobble together an atomic bomb.

This idea must be implanted in the head of the average American through all-pervasive propaganda fed into social media, television, radio, and the internet at large.

Most Americans really don’t have a handle on what is happening. The illusion they believe is delivered in controlled fashion by corporate propaganda media network news, talk radio, countless videos on the internet, and above all social media.

Can you blame them?

It’s difficult enough making ends meet in this economy. It is managed by a financial elite and jimmy-rigged by a Federal Reserve and its monetary policies. Much wealth has gone to the crony capitalists, their industries are instrumental to the functioning of a national security state.

The so-called one percent is in fact more like the 0.01 percent. The average Joe and Jane are steadily losing ground in a dwindling and cannibalized middle class gutted by inflation, the offshoring and robotizing of employment, taxation, and ever-increasing government mandates, fees, fines, and revenue generation by militarized police at the local level.

The parasite is about to kill the host.

Economic disaster is now casting a portentous shadow. But what is the main concern in a neocon-ized WH?

Iran. Venezuela.

Saving Israel (from itself and its superannuated racist ideology).

Forcing a “peace deal” scribbled out by a Zionist and friend of Netanyahu who supports illegal settlers and their often violent response to Palestinians.

North Korea. Kim started up his missile program again.

Is this a third front for Trump and his Crusade Against the Oil and Commie Evildoers?

The national debt is an asteroid ready to hit America. No, it’s not as popular as the other asteroid, the one NASA says might get us like the one that killed off the dinosaurs. It’s like a Hollywood movie, another gripping disaster flick.

But the debt—what we owe the banks and other countries—is very rarely talked about, and certainly not made into a mini-series.

Instead, we get fairy tales, official lies and fabrications.

We’re stuck with war (again) and the tab for that and everything else the financial elite have us on the hook for, including having us foot a gambling debt in the billions.

But even that was a ruse designed to funnel more money up into the maw of an insatiable and criminal uber-wealthy leviathan.

It looks like Trump will get his “Jolly Little War” (as Eric Margolis pegged it) against Iran or Venezuela, although the newsfeeds say today it will be Iran.

It might change tomorrow. Who knows? Trump might have himself a two-front war against the Oil Evildoers. I recall another notorious character who made that mistake. He ended up a defeated nobody in Patagonia.
Maximum pressure. For instance, weaponized sanctions killing thousands in Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea.

Maximum pressure equals a maximum body count. It’s said sanctions on the people of Iran will motivate them to overthrow the mullahs. Fat chance. It will do the exact opposite. Bolton and Pompeo know this. Trump probably doesn’t, but then, as demonstrated on numerous occasions, he is no longer president when it comes to foreign policy.
Or feed its people. Pompeo the tank commander and Bolton the long term neocon know this will further degrade Iran’s economy and worsen conditions for the people.

The lesson of Iraq: if you starve and kill off the people slowly with sanctions and then when they’re the most vulnerable and unable to fight back, you launch another invasion and make the rubble bounce. At home among the Fox News-CNN-MSNBC indoctrinated citizenry, there are usually yellow ribbons, flags—flags… far as the eye can see!—and red-white-blue bumper stickers demanding fealty to the flag and war and the poor soldier who makes our freedom possible with his sacrifice on the altar of corporate vampirism.

Israel and the neocons have waited long enough for the American people to be tricked into fighting another war for their sake. So they need a false flag. But it’s not working out for them. They blew it in Venezuela, so it’s back to the drawing board on that one.

Meanwhile, Iran.
I can’t believe after all these years this B.S. still works. If it didn’t, you’d think they would give it up. Nope. They persist with the fairy tale. If Iran gets a nuke, Israel and the United States will be history, a smoldering radioactive wasteland. This idiocy assumes the Iranians are too stupid to realize such a move would guarantee their destruction.

Besides, nobody believes it. Not in the WH among the coven of neocons, not in the Pentagon among the brass, and not among the anointed and sub-committeed in Congress.

As a sovereign nation, Iran has the right to develop whatever the hell it wants, including nuclear weapons, although I believe this is a mistake.

Only when that nation is attacked by an outside aggressor does it have right to use violence against another state. It’s called international law, something the neocons have nothing but scorn and contempt for, along with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Sec. Mike is basically rallying the “international community” for an upcoming war that very well may go nuclear. Trump likes nukes same as boys like toys and besides, he was told the new generation of nukes are “usable” now.  Uncle Sam’s new nukes can be “dialed down” to the appropriate lethality—a city block or half a nation, depending what grisly (and faked) videos Ivanka shows her father on any given day.
Trump’s just reading cue cards written by Stephen Miller, a collaborator tight with Steve Bannon and the nationalist-populist Breitbart Nation folks.

The United States is the only state to have actually used nuclear weapons, so I’d say it should destroy its stockpile for the safety of humanity instead of bullying states on a list of disfavored nations to be rubbed out.

Iran wants a nuke because it is an insurance policy against Uncle Psychopath invading and turning the country into a failed state, a smart-bomb broken state easily dominated and controlled.
How this corrupt little weasel became a senator, I’ll never know. Well, I think I know, but it’s a conspiracy theory.

Note the bully boy playground logic. If you guys attack my guys, I’ll attack all your guys and then we’ll see what happens.

Uh, Marco? Those 50,000 troops are occupying a country illegally invaded and destroyed, a country where the people hate our guts, mostly because we turned their advanced nation into a stinking raw sewage in the streets and depleted uranium dust in the air hellhole.
A “normal nation,” maybe like Saudi Arabia where teenagers have their heads separated from their bodies in true medieval fashion for the crime of saying something the government didn’t like, or maybe something they did consensually in the privacy of their own homes.

Or maybe Israel is a “normal nation,” seeing how this is about the Middle East.

A nation that has proudly enacted in true South African fashion a national racial and religious law making Jews first class citizens and everybody else second class, or maybe no class like the Palestinians.

A nation that tried its damnedest to ethnically cleanse all Arabs, failed, and has spent the last 70 years slowly reducing what it considers a demographic threat.

A state that keeps a minority Arab population in an open-air prison called the Gaza Strip—on occasion cleansed with the scouring effect of artillery and missiles—while slowly gobbling up the West Bank with illegal settler communities. Some of these settlers have done terrible things to the local Arabs, including running them over with cars, shooting them, flooding their olive groves with sewage, etc.

For a nation to become normal, it must be regarded as a mad animal capable of killing everything that walks on the earth.

A normal nation tells other countries by way of gunboat diplomacy what banks and corporations they will do business with, what products they can export, what happens to their national infrastructure (privatization), and finally if the leader of that nation—tyrant, monarch, socialist, democrat, nationalist, some acceptable version of malleable statist—steps out of line like Noriega, Saddam, or Gadafi, they will be dealt with in brutal fashion and their citizens will be slaughtered in the tens and hundreds of thousands.

Trump Neocons Target Cuba

undefined

On Friday, the Trump neocons and the Treasury Department and its Goldman Sachs alumnus boss imposed sanctions against 35 ships and two companies involved in the legal transport of oil from Venezuela to Cuba.
Cuba has been “illegal” for sixty years. In other words, it has successfully if tragically resisted the imposition of the neoliberal order following the Cuban Revolution.

It’s safe to say the average American knows virtually nothing about Cuba and its history. They don’t know about Fulgencio Batista, the brutal military leader who enforced a neoliberal (and Mafia) status quo in Cuba. At the time, foreign corporations, primarily American, owned 70 percent of the arable land, and Batista served as a middleman for transnational business deals.

“By the late ’50s, US financial interests included 90 percent of Cuban mines, 80 percent of its public utilities, 50 percent of its railways, 40 percent of its sugar production and 25 percent of its bank deposits—some $1 billion in total,” writes Natasha Geiling.

In 1952, unable to gain the support of the Cuban people in his bid for the presidency (his party was in last place), Batista staged a military coup. He was aligned with the Cuban elite, the owners of sugar plantations, and received logistical, military, and financial support from the US government.

“He aligned himself with the Italian and the Jewish mafia from the United States who controlled drugs, gambling and prostitution rings in the US The Batista government was favored by American-based corporations that had invested in Cuba,” writes Timothy Alexander Guzman

In order to crush dissent to his dictatorial regime, Batista imposed iron-clad media censorship. He ordered his Bureau for the Repression of Communist Activities to kidnap, torture, and murder political activists.

Batista created an anti-Communist secret police to silence the public with violence, torture and public executions. It is estimated that there were between 10,000 to 20,000 people murdered under the Batista regime with financial and military support from the Washington. During Batista’s reign of terror, the July 26 Movement organized by Fidel Castro and other anti-government groups throughout Cuba were forming a rebellion against the Batista government.

In 1959, Castro rejected the characterization that his movement was communist, preferring instead to call it humanismo. However, in order for the US to intervene (as did later with the failed Bay of Pigs invasion), it portrayed Castro as a communist and a threat to US national security (which, of course, means it was a threat to predatory banks and corporations).

It’s hardly surprising Cuba became a Marxist-Leninist police state. “The Soviet Union, the socialist camp, the People’s Republic of China, and North Korea helped us resist, with essential supplies and weapons, the implacable blockade of the United States, the most powerful empire ever to exist,” Castro said.

On October 19, 1960, in the waning months of the Eisenhower administration, the US place a crippling embargo on Cuba. This resulted in Castro nationalizing US and transnational business interests.

The Council on Foreign Relations explained how it and the government planned to tame Castro: “Since 1961, the official US policy toward Cuba has been two-pronged: economic embargo and diplomatic isolation.”

At the same time, Eisenhower was working secretly with the CIA to assassinate Castro and re-install a neoliberal autocracy.

The CIA plan was dubbed Trinidad and it was based on successful CIA coups in Iran and Guatemala. Trinidad envisioned an amphibious invasion. The idea was to carve out a beachhead and establish a council that would gain international recognition and support by the US and the Organization of American States.

After Kennedy was elected, the CIA produced a revised plan, code-named Zapata, later known as the Bay of Pigs plan, and it turned out to be a spectacular failure. This plan and other unsuccessful attempts to destabilize Cuba resulted in Castro’s move toward communism and the imposition of a police state and widespread political repression.

Relations between Cuba and the US thawed a little during the Obama administration, but after Trump was elected and the neocons began dictating foreign policy the old anti-Communist animosity returned with a vengeance.

“[The Obama administration] made a deal with a government that spread violence and instability in the region and nothing they got, think about it, nothing they got, they fought for everything and we just didn’t fight hard enough, but now, those days are over,” Trump said during a speech in Miami. “We now hold the cards. The previous administration’s easing of restrictions of travel and trade does not help the Cuban people. They only enrich the Cuban regime.”

The “violence and instability” Trump mentioned includes Cuba sending doctors to Venezuela.

According to the Gray Lady of Propaganda, The New York Times, this medical aid isn’t about helping needy Venezuelans, but a cynical political move.

“In interviews, 16 members of Cuba’s medical missions to Venezuela—a signature element of relations between the two countries—described a system of deliberate political manipulation in which their services were wielded to secure votes for the governing Socialist Party, often through coercion,” the Times reported last month.

Now that Washington has targeted oil shipments between Venezuela and Cuba, it is likely only a matter of time before a tanker is seized or sunk by the US military.

Rabid “exceptional nation” neocons are running US foreign policy again and the possibility of armed conflict between the US and Cuba is heightened to a level not seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis. That one nearly resulted in a nuclear war.

I doubt this engineered crisis will terminate in a nuclear showdown. However, considering Trump’s belief nukes can and should be used, and the venomous pronouncements of his neocons toward not only Venezuela and Cuba, but also Russia and China, it’s not difficult to imagine the unimaginable.

Neolibs and Neocons Declare All Options On the Table in Venezuela

undefined

Even though we now know there is zero evidence Donald Trump colluded with the Russians, neocon talking heads are still babbling about the discredited conspiracy theory and working it into facile monologues.

For instance, Samatha Vinograd, a “national security” analyst at Propaganda One, CNN. Ms. Vinograd is a former Obama NSC member and a former senior advisor to the president, a David E. Rockefeller Fellow at the Trilateral Commission, a Millennium Fellow at the Atlantic Council where the Russian collusion nonsense is kept alive, and also a facilitator of fascist relationships—public-private (see “Economic Fascism” by DiLorenzo)—in service to the vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, Goldman Sachs.
There is very little the US can do about Russia in its “backyard”—and it has no internationally recognized right to do so unless Russia directly threatens the United States, which it has not (unless we consider delivering humanitarian aid to starving Venezuelans an act of war, as the neocons do).

Vinograd is not simply another attractive young talking head selling the establishment line on foreign policy. As noted above, she is a Trilateralist and a member of The Atlantic Council. This means what she tells us during this interview will more than likely be adopted in some form or other by the Trump administration, now fully neo-conized at the highest levels.

It is important to note Vinograd’s opening remark combines a criticism of the president’s performance and also the debunked and discredited Russian election collusion op engineered by a petulant Hillary Clinton and the DNC to take down the duly elected president of the United States.

It’s not that Vinograd doesn’t know about the Mueller investigation summary admitting the special inquisitor doesn’t have a case against Trump. Rather it is an attempt to move away from that reality and continue to target the New Hitler, Vladimir Putin. This is the new meal ticket for the military-industrial-surveillance complex now that the artificially manufactured Islamic State is almost “defeated” in Syria. The government long ago stopped promoting peace dividends.

Now we have the ever-pugnacious John Bolton, neocon foreign policy demagogue and special national security adviser to the president. Bolton told Russia the US government and its owners lay claim to the Western Hemisphere.

“We strongly caution actors external to the Western Hemisphere against deploying military assets to Venezuela,” said Bolton, “or elsewhere in the Hemisphere, with the intent of establishing or expanding military operations… We will consider such provocative actions as a direct threat to international peace and security in the region.”

Neocon John can only get away with saying this due to the lamentable fact most Americans are almost entirely clueless on the history of US intervention in Central and South America. If they knew anything about the coups, election rigging, paramilitary death squads, and and massive corruption they might think twice about what Bolton said.

Bolton’s threat came two days after Trump said, “all options are on the table” in regard to Russia’s presence in Venezuela. In typical Trumpian fashion—somewhere between a mob boss and a festooned carnival barker—the president demanded Russia “get out” of Caracas. He made the remark in Washington during a meeting with Fabiana Rosales, the wife of Juan Guaido.

Putin checkmated Trump and his neocons—for now. On March 25 Venezuela said, “self-proclaimed “Interim President” Juan Guaido and other opposition leaders were involved in a plot to carry out acts of terrorism employing foreign paramilitaries trained in Colombia,” according to sources at Venezuelananlysis.com
According to [Communications Minister Jorge Rodriguez], Venezuelan intelligence services uncovered plans to contract mercenaries from Colombia and Central America and bring them into Venezuela to execute targeted killings and acts of sabotage, adding that “at least half” of the armed groups managed to make their way into Venezuelan territory and are currently being sought.
If Venezuela’s intelligence is accurate, one the largest private banks in the country served as a paymaster for these mercenary terrorists.
The [Whatsapp] screen captures [on the phone of Guaido’s arrested chief of staff, Roberto Marrero] also revealed details of alleged bank accounts through which payments to the paramilitary groups were supposed to be made. One of them was in Banesco’s Panama branch. Banesco is Venezuela’s largest private bank, and Rodriguez called on Banesco owner Ricardo Escotet to inform security services whether this account exists and what movements have been made.
President Trump is known for his impatience. He wants to do something now about Venezuela and its massive oil reserve, the largest in the world. Russia is in Caracas to foil any attempt to outright invade the country and provide assistance to track down mercenaries plotting to stage violence and terror attacks.

The neoliberal masterminds with their neocon collaborators behind US foreign policy know going to war with Russia is not doable. They believe a “democratic revolution” in Venezuela from below—using the usual NED and subversion NGO partners—or short of that a violent coup attempt, are not possible if Russia stands in the way, as it did in Syria.

For now, we will continue to hear neocons like Bolton and globalist insiders like Vinograd declaring Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine are still in force and represent the will of the American people, which is of course a wagonload of manure.

Fox News Doubles Down on the Big Lie and Venezuela

undefined

It doesn’t matter what corporate alphabet propaganda network you watch, you’re going to get the same line on Venezuela.

Here we have Trish Regan, a fixture at Fox News, telling numerous lies about Venezuela, lies put out by neocons and their captured president.
Ms. Regan’s rehearsed outrage centers on China for announcing it will help Venezuela get its power back in working order.

China, of course, is interested in Venezuela’s oil, same as the United States, or I should say the transnational corporations and banks that own the US government.

Regan says the latter is a conspiracy theory. Because Venezuela is in our “backyard,” it should be told in no uncertain terms selling oil to China is forbidden. “It matters that the others (China) don’t get it,” declared Ms. Regan.

Fox likes to pretend it is “conservative” and in favor of tree trade, but this is belied by its willingness to spread neocon falsehoods.

Regan claims Maduro stole the election. This is an integral part of the neocon Big Lie.

The Latin American Council of Electoral Experts (CEELA) said in 2017 “Venezuela’s voting system remains one of the most reliable in the world” and the “country’s electronic voting system boasts some of the world’s best checks and balances, and is both ‘safe and reliable.’”

Former president Jimmy Carter said Venezuela’s electoral system is “the best in the world” and added “of the 92 elections that we’ve monitored, I would say the election process in Venezuela is the best in the world.”

Ms. Regan, of course, ignores this and demands Maduro be thrown out while the neocons—in this instance, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida—fantasize Maduro as Libyan leader Gaddafi, who was sodomized with a bayonet and then assassinated by US-backed “rebels,” polite speak for fanatical Salafists who have turned Libya into a third world, failed state hellhole.

If you want to see the flip side of the corporate propaganda media’s propaganda on Venezuela, you have to read alternative news sources.

The establishment media, including no shortage of liberals—now humanitarian interventionists—tell us ad nauseam Maduro is a brutal dictator and Juan Guaidó is the legitimate leader of Venezuela. This is also the case with many leftist and progressive websites that claim to be alternative.

“The coup that is unfolding in Venezuela is not an American backed coup: it is an American coup,” writes Ted Snider. “Mainstream media coverage paints the events only as American recognition of a legitimate constitutional correction of government. Even in the left wing and alternative media, where writers condemn the American intervention, many of them feel the need to establish their credibility by conceding that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is an authoritarian leader, or even a dictator, who won a second term in office in elections that were illegitimate.”

Near the end of her theatrical presentation, Regan says the people of Venezuela are suffering under a “95% poverty rate,” which is clearly untrue, although the rate has increased since the US began its sanctions and not-so-covert coup attempt.

History demonstrates socialism is a largely failed system, but that is not the crux of Venezuela’s problems—US-imposed sanctions are.

“Over the past five years, American sanctions have cut Venezuela off from most financial markets, which have caused local oil production to plummet,” writes Garikai Chengu. “Consequently, Venezuela has experienced the largest decline in living standards of any country in recorded Latin American history.”

Again, the corporate media, both “conservative” and “liberal,” will not tell you this and will instead push the Big Lie on Venezuela.

“America’s media is unquestionably the most corrupt institution in America,” Chengu continues. “The nation’s media may quibble about Trump’s domestic policies but when it comes to starting wars for oil abroad they sing in remarkable unison. Fox News, CNN and the New York Times all cheered the nation into war in Iraq over fictitious weapons of mass destruction, whilst America was actually using sanctions of mass destruction on the Iraqi people. They did it in Libya and now they are doing it again in Venezuela.”

Regan, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, the Washington Post, and the corporate media talking heads reading from the Big Lie script are serving the state and its decades-long effort to force by bullet and bomb a wealth and natural resource strip mining operation on those who have said “no thank you” to neoliberalism.

Sen. Rubio Makes Fun of the Suffering of the Venezuelan People

undefined

Marco Rubio, the neocon senator from Florida, considers a suspicious power outage across Venezuela to be funny. He would no doubt feel different if his mother was on a ventilator in a Caracas hospital—then again.
Rubio’s little joke is comparable to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s national television chortle over the rape and murder of Gaddafi in Libya.

However, the top award for sociopathic viciousness remains on Madeleine Albright’s mantle of accomplishments. Albright was a protege of the late Zbigniew Brzezinski. She also went on national television and declared the engineered murder of half a million Iraqi children during the medieval siege of Iraq to be “worth it.” For her service to the Empire, she received the Senator H. John Heinz III Award for Greatest Public Service by an Elected or Appointed Official, an award handed out annually by the Jefferson Awards Foundation.
Mr. Hanke, an economics professor at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, ignores the intensified economic warfare waged by the United States against the people of Venezuela. Indeed, socialism is a failed system. However, in the case of Maduro and Venezuela, its inherent failures were helped along by a strong dose of covert subversion by the US.

“That sabotage by the private sector has taken the form of hoarding of selected items, price speculation, keeping supermarket shelves empty, sending food shipments to neighboring countries, even setting food warehouse stockpiles on fire. This purposely-generated scarcity creates chaos and discontent, further undermining the government,” writes Joyce Nelson

The use of “financial weapons” is detailed in the Army Special Operations Forces Unconventional Warfare booklet, made public by WikiLeaks. The document has been described as an instruction manual for subversion of nations unwilling to submit to neoliberal bankster loan shark schemes.

“WikiLeaks drew particular attention to a segment of the publication entitled ‘Financial Instrument of US National Power and Unconventional Warfare.’ This section outlines how the US government, in its own words, uses ‘financial weapons’ to wage ‘economic warfare’ against foreign governments that try to pursue an independent path,” writes Ben Norton

The Pentagon document explains how the US “can use financial power as a weapon in times of conflict up to and including large-scale general war” and adds that, “manipulation of US financial strength can leverage the policies and cooperation of state governments.”

Rubio has continued to tweet out jokes as babies are manually ventilated in dark hospitals and ICU life-support systems fail.
According to Telesur, a satellite television network funded by the Venezuelan government, the widespread power outage is part of an “electric war” waged by the US.

“We want to send a message to the international community: just three minutes after the attack, Marco Rubio, once again, as a crime reporter, reported on the event that was happening in our country. Mr. Rubio, I want to inform you that, in a few hours, the Venezuelan people and the international community will know the truth. We’ll know that your rotten hands—supported by your lackeys who permanently attack the Venezuelan people—are involved in this event,” Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez announced on Thursday.
Venezuela said its Guri dam, one of the largest hydroelectric dams in the world, was sabotaged by a US subversion operation. “The government is saying that the opposition and its leader Juan Guaido are behind this attack, as well as the US,” Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reported from Caracas.

Marco Rubio’s callous attempts to make fun of the suffering of the Venezuelan people reveals the psychosis of the neocons and their fellow travelers.

They are responsible for mass murder and genocide, most recently in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and much of Africa, particularly Somalia. Iran is also suffering from punitive sanctions. More alarming, the neocons and their “humanitarian interventionist” bedfellows are behind efforts to aggressively confront Russia and China, two countries bristling with nuclear warheads.

The latest attempt to take down Venezuela and punish its people for electing a government outside the stranglehold of the globalists has failed.

In the weeks ahead, we can expect more serious and deadly subversion operations conducted by the US. This will inspire Marco Rubio to send out more tweets mocking the suffering of millions of Venezuelans.

Trump Breaks Another Promise: Troops Will Remain in Syria

undefined

It was a mere two months ago the president of the United States declared he would leave Syria and bring home the troops.

“Our boys, our young women, our men, they’re all coming back,” Trump said. “And they’re coming back now. We won. And that’s the way we want it. And that’s the way they want it.”

That was then, this is now.

Now Trump has gone back on his promise, as he has gone back on most of his other promises, and US troops will continue to violate Syria’s national sovereignty for the foreseeable future.

Mr. Trump has yet to admit—his massive ego won’t let him—that at best the US played a minor role in eradicating the Islamic State, a terror organization that began as a Pentagon psyop during the Iraqi resistance to George W. Bush’s invasion.

In fact, it was Russia and Iran in coordination with the Syrian Arab Army that neutralized the threat, but you won’t hear Trump or the corporate media he supposedly detests talk about this. If you ask the average citizen, he or she will likely say it was the US that singlehandedly beat the Islamic State. (See David William Pear, “Who Really Defeated ISIS.”)

“A small peace keeping group of about 200 will remain in Syria for period of time,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said last month.

The Pentagon, however, notorious for decades of deceit and lies, said the actual number will be double that mentioned by Sanders. The actual number is likely triple or quadruple the official estimate—possibly more, much more.

This illegality, this violation of international law and the UN Charter (the US signed this document in 1945 with the founding of the UN), represents a cornerstone of US foreign policy. The US has invaded 70 nations, engaged in genocide, economic warfare, and has fomented terror since the founding of the nation (see Dr. Gideon Polya’s “The US Has Invaded 70 Nations Since 1776—Make 4 July Independence From America Day”).

ISIS is not and has never been the reason the United States bombed targets and killed thousands of Syrian civilians. The war on ISIS was about establishing a military presence in Syria, the excuse being an effort to counter Iran’s geopolitical aims.

The centerpiece of this strategy is Israel, which has for years called for an outright invasion of Iran, using the fallacious pretext of nuclear weapons. Like Iraq under Saddam Hussein, Iran doesn’t possess nuclear weapons. This has been verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The agency also reported Iran was in compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which Trump ultimately killed. Nonetheless, the US and Israel continue to push the absurd fallacy that Iran will nuke Israel, thus inviting annihilation by Israel with its nukes, which are undeclared and have been for decades.

It was obvious from the start when Trump surrounded himself with generals, and then a rabble of neocons (Bolton, Abrams, and Pompeo), that in no way would he live up to his promise to make America noninterventionist again, which it never was (see above).

It is safe to say the MAGA troops faithfully support of his policies, formulated by neocons and their cousins, the “humanitarian interventionists.” Take a look at the Breitbart and Drudge Report websites. There is virtually no criticism of Trump’s foreign policy and the focus is invariably on the border and the twists and turns of an orchestrated “civil war” between the “New Right,” or “Alt-right,” and the Left. It would seem Breitbart is more interested in Melania Trump’s footwear than endless war, while Drudge peppers his front page with nonsense about celebrities and sports mixed in with news stories on the border and the evilness of Hillary Clinton and all things Democrat. The new distraction is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She competes daily with the fake Mueller investigation.

It’s not fake news. It’s diversionary news.

It’s fair to say most of Trump’s hardcore MAGA supporters believe Make America Great Again is achieved by invading small, usually defenseless countries. In the case of Breitbart, Drudge, et al, these issues are ignored altogether. It should be kept in mind Breitbart got its start in Jerusalem.

“One thing we specifically discussed [while on a junket to Israel]… was our desire to start a site that would be unapologetically pro-freedom and pro-Israel. We were sick of the anti- Israel bias of the mainstream media and J-Street. By launching Breitbart Jerusalem, the journey comes full circle and a promise between two friends is fulfilled. And in a very real sense, Breitbart News Network returns to its roots,“ wrote Larry Solov for Breitbart in November 2013 (see previous link where there is a photo of Andrew Breitbart meeting with Bibi Netanyahu).

Donald Trump is now a card-carrying neocon doing the work of Israel in the Middle East. His betrayal of a promise to get our troops out of Syria (and Iraq and Afghanistan) in addition to his collaboration with Israel and its crimes—above all its slow-motion genocide of the Palestinians—should stand as proof positive Trump is more of the same, never mind the personality quirks and the raving narcissism he displays on a daily basis.

Rubio Tells Maduro He Will End Up Like Gaddafi

undefined

Mike Pompeo, the former boss of the world’s most prolific terror organization, the CIA, climbed up on his high State Department horse Saturday and lectured us on the crimes of the “sick tyrant” Nicholas Maduro.
This little tweeted tirade was intended for the ignorant masses in America who know virtually nothing about Venezuela beyond what a lying and script-reading corporate media tells them.

For instance, they don’t know Russia and other countries have sent food and supplies to Venezuela and the US-orchestrated events on the border are designed to make you think Maduro is denying aid and willfully starving his people.
Pompeo would also have you believe evil Cuban communists are calling the shots in Venezuela.
So, what are these vile communists doing? In return for subsidized oil, they are providing doctors and diplomats.

But if you read The War Street Journal, you will get a different picture: the Cubans are orchestrating the murder of Venezuelans and spying on Venezuelan army officers to head off a coup.

“If the international community wants to head off disaster, a good place to start would be in Havana,” Mary Anastasia O’Grady wrote for the newspaper in 2017.

Neocon favorite Marco Rubio let it be known what the US has in mind for Maduro. He tweeted out this on Sunday:
Prior to this, Rubio posted a couple photos of Manuel Noriega, the CIA’s favored drug kingpin who fell from favor.
Noriega’s useful past for the neoliberal cartel is of course not mentioned by Rubio.

“Noriega was recruited as a CIA informant while studying at a military academy in Peru,” writes Mark Tran. “He received intelligence and counterintelligence training at the School of the Americas at Fort Gulick, Panama, in 1967, as well as a course in psychological operations at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was to remain on the CIA payroll until February 1988.”

The Panamanian dictator “made himself valuable to the US during the Contra wars when he allowed the US to set up listening posts in Panama and by helping the US campaign against the leftist Sandinista regime in Nicaragua. Noriega allowed Panama to be used as a conduit for US money and weapons for the Contras as then US president Ronald Reagan sought to undermine the Sandinistas. But Noriega’s increasing brutality turned him into a liability, especially after the assassination of Hugo Spadafora, a political opponent who was found beheaded in 1985.”

After the 1988 Senate subcommittee on terrorism, narcotics and international operations concluded that US support for Noriega “represents one of the most serious foreign policy failures for the United States,” the first Bush administration decided the small Central America country with its strategically invaluable canal must be invaded and Noriega taken down.

Rubio also didn’t mention the fact after Noriega was removed the new government agreed to ditch the Torrijos treaties, under which all US military bases in Panama would be shut down by the year 2000.

Meanwhile, those of us who can’t find Venezuela on a map will likely fall for the narrative pushed by the corporate media as it reads from its government script.

As noted by Mark Cook of FAIR, the propaganda media in the US has engaged in serial and pathological lying about Venezuela.

In other words, those of us who either refuse to do our homework, are intellectually incurious, and take the media’s gross distortions and lies as a matter of fact will support the continuation and escalation of economic sanctions and the growing probability of war waged against not only Venezuela, but Nicaragua and Cuba as well.
